JIM’S ACOUSTIC BLUES CAFE
3 Man Jam!

Check out 3 Man Jam! Bio

The 3 Man Jam! acoustic trio was formed by Backdoor Blues Corporation’s vocalist Oliver Carpenter and guitarist Neil Worrall, along with top piano player Mike Nock from the Legendary Surftones playing bluesy, souly, jazzy ... but most of all acoustically!

The Midlands-based trio produces jazzy, bluesy, country, folky music in styles from the urban blues of Tom Waits, the blues, jazz and soul of Ray Charles, the country of Steve Earl through to the jazz of Louis Armstrong plus loads of other interesting stuff along the way.

Recently described by Blues in Britain magazine as;

“....... each song gave Oliver the chance to show off the versatility of his singing and trumpet playing .... stretching his searing voice to its considerable limits. And his band are wonderful: Neil’s picking was crisp, fast and note-perfect, Mike’s piano playing featured crisp, lithe, swinging runs and steady bass lines....... look out for them at Colne.”

Equally at home in a small intimate pub or bar or on the acoustic stage of a Blues Festival 3 Man Jam! acts as a resident band for ‘Birmingham Unplugged’ and has been rebooked for both the Acoustic Stage of the Great British R&B Festival 2003 and the HMV Birmingham International Jazz Festival 2003 following successful appearances last year. The trio is also appearing at the 2003 Blues on the Farm Festival at Pump Bottom Farm near Chichester.

With his strong gravely voice and unusual trumpet style, Oliver Carpenter provides the vocal focal point, giving Neil and Mike the opportunity to combine excellent soloing and grooving rhythm work.
