Nevis Blues Festival 2016
Oulie Bay, Nevis, West Indies

April 2016 saw the second edition of the Nevis Blues Festival, featuring artistes from the USA, UK and Netherlands. The exciting vibe and music are captured in a highlights video available to view on the festival website:
 http://www.nevisbluesfestival.com/.

Staged at night and located on the beach at Oualie Bay, Nevis Blues Festival has quickly gained a reputation for its magical setting and spectrum of contemporary blues, soul and blues-rock. Capacity is limited to just 1,000 people each night, giving the festival a relaxed intimacy.

Although young, the festival is already listed in several surveys of top music festivals in the Caribbean, including USA Today’s pick of the best.

Here are a selection of photos from Tina Papies:

Denise Gordon (seen here with her musical director, Denny Ilett, and Lorna Fothergill of Northsyde) comes from a Nevisian family though lives in the UK and can most often be found touring Germany and Scandinavia.

On the last night all five lead guitarists that appeared at the festival combined on a monumental rendition of the Meters’ funky Fire on the Bayou. (from left): Dusty Ciggaar (of the Ian Siegal Band), Simon McBride, Kirk Fletcher, Denny Ilett (who appeared with Denise Gordon), and Jules Fothergill (of Northsyde). The rhythm section are from Simon McBride’s band: Dave Marks (bass) and Marty McCloskey (drums)
