Here is the latest release of the  UK and European Blues Festivals Guide 2021, including blues related workshops, exhibitions and lectures.   Several festivals are shown as "2021 - TBA" (awaiting more details from the organisers). At least you can see roughly when they will take place (most festivals are at the same time of year within a week or so). Whilst I have taken every care to ensure details are correct, please confirm dates with festival organisers - I have included contact phone numbers, email addresses and website addresses.   Please let me know of any other UK or European blues festivals, workshops, exhibitions and lectures not listed here.

I regularly update this list as I receive more details from festival organisers, so please check back often.

COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

Please refer to individual festival websites for the latest situation regarding any cancellations.

A note from the UKBlues Federation:

At this time of gigs, festivals, jam sessions and other events being subject to widespread cancellation, we urge everybody to remember that whilst you, as a punter, may lose out on your tickets and your opportunity to attend an event, the musicians who were taking part in that event will be losing out on what they would have earned, often having already incurred non-recoverable costs, whilst the venues will still have their normal costs – staff, rates, insurance, rent etc. to cover with little or no income.
Please do your best to support those whose livelihoods are now under threat by buying acts’ merchandise and, maybe, not seeking a refund for your tickets. It is essential that now, more than ever, we all try to look out for others.

Let's all look forward to live blues music later in 2021.  Hope to see you at some of the festivals.

Keep safe and well.

Alan White

It's quicker to click on the month you want rather than scrolling down - it's a very big list with lots of images and may take a while to load fully - please be patient. If there are any missing images just refresh the screen and they will re-load.

Dereham Blues Festival, Norfolk

2021 Festival CANCELLED

Since the 2020 Dereham Blues Festival was regrettably cancelled last year, the Festival Organising Committee run exclusively by volunteers, have been very busy with a view to organising the Festival for July this year (2021). The uncertainty last year was recognised but it was hoped the situation would be clearer as the year progressed. We now know, this is not the case. Indeed, if anything the position at the beginning of 2021, is less clear.

To put the festival on, many of the arrangements and decisions must be made early in the year - for example to sign up the venues, agree arrangements with sponsors, arrange the line-up of the bands, work with the Friends of The Dereham Memorial Hall to set-up the opening headline concert and organise the publicity.

The committee has continued to meet virtually each month to assess the situation which early in 2021 is currently still very uncertain. Without certainty, we regret cannot plan fully putting on a festival while maintaining safety of all those involved, especially audience members. So, with extreme regret, it has been decided, that the Dereham Blues Festival this year will not be taking place as normal in July.

This has been a very hard decision to make. Over the last eight years since the Festival was first held, its reputation has grown in line with increasing scale and scope of the festival itself. The committee is concerned this reputation is maintained and do not want to do anything to dilute the Festival’s brand. Given the current uncertainty, and that the Committee only want put on a top class Festival, we would rather wait until 2022.

Despite the lack of a Festival again this year, the finances which are run on a not for profit basis, remain sound. One reason for this is that kind festival fans have continued to support the festival financially by participating in the Breckland Lottery Fund where they have nominated the Dereham Blues Festival as their local organisation to be supported. The Committee are so grateful for this continued support. If any fans want to add to this initiative, they are welcome to do so by contacting the fund at https:// .

In September this year, bands will be contacted again to sign them up for 2022. We are always on the look out for new talent. So if new artists and bands want to apply to play next year, of course this is encouraged via “Wanna Play” page on the Dereham Blues Festival website at from September onwards .

The committee have been keeping other involved organisations informed of the Festival’s activities. These include Dereham Town Council, the bands, advertisers, sponsors, the programme printer and the venues. The sponsors who are especially valued contributors to the Festival, have had their 2021 sponsorship funds reimbursed and we are discussing with them their continuing support in 2022.

The committee hopes the Festival’s fans understand this difficult decision and look forward to their continued support for this unique and special festival.

Onwards and upwards to 2022.

The 31st Great British R&B Festival 2021,
Colne, Lancashire

Bank Holiday Weekend 2021
Friday 27th - Sunday 29th August 2021

The 2021 Great British Rhythm & Blues Festival in Colne, Lancashire has been cancelled due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, organisers have today confirmed.

This legendary festival was due to take place over bank holiday weekend, 27th - 29th August 2021 headlined by Band Of Friends, Kyla Brox, Layla Zoe, Davy Knowles, Mike Farris & more.

Festival organisers, Colne Town Council, have concluded that, at this time, it is "not possible" to run the event safely.

Naomi Crewe, Colne Town Council's Town Clerk, explains "It is with great regret that, in light of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, we cannot find a way to guarantee the safety of our festival goers (often upwards of 25,000 people), venues, traders, performers and staff at this time. Although we love the blues festival here in Colne, we love and respect our residents and visitors more. It is the safety of everyone involved in the event which is the motivation for our decision."

All ticket holders will be contacted directly by Friday 2nd April, and given a refund on their purchases.

Updates will also be posted regularly on the festival website and via the festival social media.

Click the image above for tickets

Latest Update: 17/06/20

The Great British Rhythm & Blues Festival in Colne will return for 2021, with tickets available online (all being well) from Friday 10th July 2020 at 10am.

Tickets being put on sale will help to symbolise the positivity surrounding the prestigious event. Councillor Mary Thomas, Chairman of Colne Town Council (the Council have organised and managed the festival since 2017) explains further "The event, in many ways, is the jewel in the crown of, not only Colne's event calendar, but also of the UK Blues Festival calendar. The festival attracts thousands of people to Colne each August, bringing the streets and venues alive with music and good times. Colne Town Council were heartbroken to cancel the 2020 festival but it was the sensible and responsible decision to make.  Putting the tickets on sale next month will hopefully add to the list of things which people can look forward to now that COVID-19 restrictions are beginning to lift".

The majority of the artists and bands who were booked to play the 2020 festival including headliners - Band Of Friends, Davy Knowles, Kyla Brox, Layla Zoe, Mike Farris & His Band, Xander & The Peace Pirates - will play the 2021 event.  As things currently stand, all traders and venues will also carry their contracts over until next year.

Having won the much sought-after UKBlues Federation award for the Best Blues Based Festival 2019, the festival continues to go from strength-to-strength. Just some of the love the event has received over the last 3 years includes:
“Unbelievably rich experience! Great music, great variety within the genre, great people and glorious sunshine”
“This wasn’t just a festival, it wasn’t just an incredible line-up of talent – it was 'a happening'!"
“Best turnout for The Blues in many a year! Well done Colne Town Council for taking the festival on. Great decision to close down Newmarket Street and Albert Street, it really brought the crowds out to the bars. Also a good move to have the designated busking tents” 5*****
“An excellent time with excellent music and atmosphere throughout the weekend. This was our first time, but definitely not the last” 5*****

The financial investment for an event of this size, as you can imagine, is considerable. Much of the event remains free to enjoy - with over 15 stages of free music, plus street entertainment - and more. With this in mind, the organisers have created a donation section on the festival website.  If you are willing to help the fund in any way, it would be greatly appreciated.

Naomi Crewe, Town Clerk explains. "We love that much of the Blues Festival remains free. The ticketed venues tend to 'look after themselves' in terms of finances, so we are looking at a number of ways to help fund the free parts of the festival, without losing any of the atmosphere and creativity which is produced over the weekend of the event. With around 20,000 visitors attending the event, a simple donation of £2 would make a huge difference. We understand these are challenging times for many, so of course there is no obligation."

JULY 4 2020

In all these years AmenoBlues has tried to keep the Festival alive, offering a high quality billboard and bringing internationally-known artists at a price accessible to everyone to a small village, peripheral to the major cultural circuits.

Despite the efforts put in place, the niche music genre and the few resources available, unfortunately, do not allow us to maintain that economic balance that would have allowed us to continue with serenity.

We therefore wish to share a special evening of greeting with our loyal public, which will be the last occasion to enjoy the atmosphere of the square in Ameno. The event will take place on Saturday 4th July and that evening we will try to bring some of the musicians who have characterized the magnificent evenings of past editions to the stage, in a sort of small The Last Waltz.

Amenoblues will continue to organize concerts at the Tornielli Museum, always guaranteeing a high level of musical proposals.

We thank all the fans who have followed us with affection in recent years, we invite you to follow the website and the facebook page to find out the next events.
