Hero. Legend. Good Bloke.

Bridget And The Big Girls Blues at The Courtyard Hereford.
Saturday 30th October 2004

Bridget opened the Gig dedicating the session to the memory of the late, great, John Peel, to much rapturous applause. Well received on this her third visit to the Courtyard, she endeared the crowd with her powerful vocals and talented guitarists - Andy Wood and Syd Greenfield. We were taken back to the gin-joints of the 20s & 30s, when women were at the forefront of the Blues. Bridget saluted Bessie Smith, Ma Rainey, Victoria Spivey, and Memphis Minnie – not forgetting Billie Holiday.

Bridget, Gloucester born and bred, started off as a folk singer but soon found the blues more agreeable to her vocal style. Appearing for the last three years at the Gloucester Blues Festival, Bridget is fast becoming a crowd puller wherever she performs. See her live at the Pig Inn Blues Festival, Westgate Street, Gloucester backed by The Jo Jazz & Blues Band, a six-piece outfit. Already booked are Will Killeen, Suspects Blues Band and Cool Hand. A Jam session is on the cards and it all happens next January 28th – 30th 2005.

Bridget is also at Cuban Blue, Bridge Street, Hereford on January 22nd 2005.
